Joan Zimmerman

Joan M. Zimmerman, 86, of Reading, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at 9:00 pm in Manor Care Health Services, Laureldale. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Catherine M. (Vogel) Zimmerman. Ms. Zimmerman was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church. She was a receptionist for the former Reading Gray Iron Castings for 42 years retiring in 1995. Ms. Zimmerman enjoyed walking, gardening, baking and going to the casinos. She is survived by her sister Kathryn M. Zimmerman and her brother Paul L. Zimmerman with both whom she last resided. Also surviving is her nephew John Zimmerman of be Houston, Texas and her nieces Karen Zimmerman of Alameda, California and Kathy Varga of Houston, Texas. Ms. Zimmerman was preceded in death by her brother John L. Zimmerman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, Friday, June 2, 2017 at 9:30 am. Reverend Monsignor John J. Grabish, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
