Joan Fox

Joan L. Fox, 86, of Exeter Township, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 12:12 am in Reading Hospital after a sudden illness. She was the wife of the late Richard K. Fox who passed away January 8, 2002. Born in Reading, Mrs. Fox was the daughter of the late Andrew C. and Lucille C. (Edwards) Rutolo. She was a graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School, was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, and was a life member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers. She was employed by Bell of PA first as a telephone operator, then as a senior clerk, and finally as a dial administrator retiring in 1984, after 32 years of service.
Mrs. Fox treasured spending summer vacations in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She also enjoyed hockey games, reading, and sitting by the campfire. She was Mom, Grams, and Mom-mom to all she knew. Joan looked forward to ice cream and family game nights, and has been lovingly reunited with the pinochle card club.
Mrs. Fox is survived by her son, Richard A. Fox, Sr., husband of Tracy L. Fox of Exeter Township; daughter, Shannon A. Fox-Spohn of West Lawn; step-daughter, Coreen E. Roberts, wife of Donald Roberts of Reading; grandchildren, Richard Fox, Jr., Brittany Fox, Summer Fox, Savannah and Madeline Spohn, and 3 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary J. Hains.
Funeral Procession will depart Bean Funeral Home, North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights, Friday, November 16, 2018, at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church 1018 North 8th Street, Reading, at 10:00 am. Reverend Monsignor John J. Grabish, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Thursday, November 15, 2018, 6:00-8:00 pm and Friday 8:30-9:15 am.
