Jerry B. Standefer Sr.

Jerry Bill Standefer, 75, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 11, 2023, at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.  He was born on June 3, 1947, in Moline, Illinois, to William and Betty (Hufferd) Standefer.

Jerry was a loving husband to Susan E. (Fellows) Standefer and they spent many happy years together. They enjoyed spending time with their friends and family and listening to live music. Jerry was a beloved father to his sons, Jerry B. Jr. (Tish) and Nathan, and stepdaughter, Shannon (Richard). Jerry was a proud grandfather to Nequoia, Aiden, Elum, Juda, Jacob, Isabella, Adam, Alexander, and Abigail. He was also a great-grandfather to Odin and Cole.

Jerry is also survived by his brother, Dennis (Sandy), and his sister, Cindy (Buck) Spraudling. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Gary Lee.

Jerry attended Black Hawk College and was a union electrician, a member of the IBEW local #375 in Allentown for 20 years. He was also a member of the South End Gun Club. Jerry was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church.

Jerry loved spending his free time on his computer, where he enjoyed developing websites. He was a member of the Berks Parrothead Club and was a huge fan of Jimmy Buffett and Jimmy and the Parrots. He was a lover of all Philadelphia sports (Go Eagles and Phillies!) and enjoyed watching top-fuel drag racing.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Encompass Health of Reading for the care and support they provided to Jerry over the years.

Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a skilled electrician, a devoted member of his community, and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 11:00am at West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, Reading, PA 19609. The family will be receiving condolences beginning at 10am.
