Jean Johnston passed away on January 9, 2022 in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania on April 29, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Luther and Bernice Bradley Fisher of Shillington, Pennsylvania and Boca Raton, Florida.

Jean was a 1942 graduate of Shillington High School and a 1946 graduate of Wittenberg College, Springfield, Ohio. After college, Jean worked for Cleveland Trust Company before returning to Reading, where she worked for Beaumont Heller Spelling Ad Agency and later Ruttenburg Travel Service. Jean and H. Richard ("Dick") Johnston were married in 1949, and they settled in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania to raise their three sons. Jean was a 50+ year member and long-time volunteer of the Junior League of Reading and she also volunteered for the Reading Hospital and was a Docent of the Reading Museum. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Reading, Pennsylvania. Jean enjoyed painting and inherited some of her mother's considerable artistic talent. She was also an avid bridge player, especially with her identical twin sister, Jane, as her partner. Jean especially treasured her time spent at the shore in Stone Harbor, New Jersey with her extended family.

She is survived by her three sons, Henry Richard (Frances), Peter (Isabel), and Philip (Susan); five grandchildren, Richard Johnston (Eszter), Landrum Knight (Ro), Samantha Burt (Danny), Emily Long (Alex) and Philip, Junior as well as seven great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by her loving sister Nancy Rittenhouse (John) and nieces Clara Breen-Beck (Al), Holly Springer (Jim), Karen Pels (Gerald) and Leslie Jones (Steven).

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Dick, who died in January 2012. Jean was also predeceased by her brother, Austin Fisher, her sister, Jane Sher, and her niece Jennifer Reed.

Her sons would like to thank her thoughtful caregivers, Donna Cassler and Suzette Douglas for their dedicated and loving support. Her sons would also like to acknowledge Clara Breen-Beck and Holly Springer for always treating their Aunt Jean like their second mother and especially for welcoming her in their family's holiday gatherings.

A private memorial will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to Yocum Institute for Arts Education, West Lawn, PA, the Junior League of Reading, PA, or SunCoast Hospice, Clearwater, FL
