Jane L. Schower, 92, passed away May 6, 2017, in the home of her daughter in Exeter Township. She was the wife of Paul J. Schower, who passed away March 10, 1966, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.
Born in Shillington, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Sadie (Kohl) Keffer.
Jane graduated from Shillington High School in 1942. After graduation she was employed at Narrow Fabric processing orders that were to be distributed to various areas. She also was a representative for Avon Products for more than 20 years. At one time Jane worked for Hatfield Meat Products demonstrating their various products to consumer in stores throughout the area.
Jane was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She attended their church services regularly and enjoyed the many activities and trips, especially their senior group, Still Going Strong. She also was a member of the Community Senior Travel Club in Mohnton and attended their weekly meetings.
Jane enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed trips to the casinos with her sisters-in-law and playing pinochle and dominoes. She loved being around and helping people and loved to laugh at a good joke. She was a wonderful caregiver to her husband, Paul, during his lengthy illness. She was always ready with a smile and a helping hand for anyone who needed it! Many people experienced her kindness and thoughtfulness and great care packages!
Jane was predeceased by brothers: Harold Keffer, Vernon Keffer, Everett Keffer, and two sisters: Melrose Adams, and Joyce Smith.
Jane is survived by her two sons, Bruce Schower and his wife, Vivian, of Middletown, New Jersey, and Mark Schower and his wife, Janie, of Eatonton, Georgia; her two daughters, Paula Lamp, and her husband, Roger, of Exeter Township, and Donna Smith of Shillington; 7 grandchildren, Sandra Joseph, James Schower, Michael Schower, Colette Miller, Craig Smith, Stephanie Conner, Kimberly Lamp, and Ashley Lamp; and 12 great grandchildren: Kora, Paige, Hailey, Rylie, Ella, Jackson, Madelyn, Brady, Jonathan, David, Colton, and an expected great grandson in August; and two step great grandchildren, Jonas and Sydney. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws: Louise Deeds, Arlene Schoner, and Irene Keffer.
Funeral Services will be held at St. John's UCC, 57 St. John's Road, Birdsboro, on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives at Bean Funeral Home, 6 Fairlane Rd., Reading, on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 6-8:00PM and Saturday at church from 9-10:00AM. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
