Jane M. Blair

Jane M. Blair, 97, of Wyomissing, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 in her residence at the Highlands at Wyomissing. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren Blair with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, on May 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Robert C. Coates and Dorothy M. (Miller). Jane graduated from West Chester State Teachers College and after graduation taught grade 3 in the Delaware County School District until 1948. She was internationally recognized as a master quilter and has received numerous accolades and awards both at home and abroad. Her quilt “Gypsy in My Soul” was honored as one of the 20^th century’s 100 best American quilts. She was a member of the American Quilters Society, the American/ International Quilters Association and a lifetime member of the PA Quilters Association.

Jane is survived by her daughter Heidi B. Vassar, wife of David Vassar, of New Hope, PA; granddaughters, Kira Freytag, wife of Patrick Freytag; Whitney Cliggett, wife of Don Cliggett; Great-grandchildren, Landon Freytag, Declan Freytag, and Lincoln Cliggett; and brother, Richard M. Miller of Florida.
