James Shade

James E. Shade, 83, of Reading, passed away June 29, 2009 at 5:15 am in Mifflin Center a resident since April. He was the husband of Ellen M. (Hess) Shade. Born in West Leesport, he was the son of the late Christian and Carolina (Hottenstein) Shade. Mr. Shade was employed by Glidden Paints in Reading for 44 years last working as a fork lift operator, retiring in 1990. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of Bernville Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Shade enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, James A. husband of Lisa M. Shade of Reading and Mark A. husband of Lynn I. Shade of Reading. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin M.; Jared M.; and Jenna M. In addition, he is survived by his sisters Helen Ruhf a resident of Kutztown Manor and Gertrude, wife of Joe Orban of Bernville.
