James O'Malley, Jr.

O’MALLEY, JAMES WILLIAM JR. – born January 17, 1948, Jim passed from his home in Exeter Township, Berks County, PA on Friday August 26, 2022, following a battle with Liver Cancer. “Pop” was the patriarch of his Irish family, 5 children and 12 grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years Jane Marie (nee Thomas) O’Malley, daughter Jane Marie (nee O’Malley) Harakal (Matthew), parents James W. O’Malley Sr. and Dorothy Marie (nee Dougherty) O’Malley, brother-in-law Joseph S. Hatos Jr. and niece Kathleen M. (nee Hatos) Anderson.  Surviving is his sister Dorothy Marie (nee O’Malley) Hatos (Joseph), son James W. O’Malley III (Jeanmarie) of Maple Glen, PA, daughter Patricia M. Powers (John) of Douglassville, PA, daughter Megan K. Moyer (Scott), of Green Lane, PA, son-in-law Matthew D. Harakal (Dawn) of Mertztown, PA, and son Thomas J. O’Malley (Danielle) of Prospect Park, PA.

Born and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, “Chick” was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School for Boys in 1966. Meeting the love of his life down the shore in North Wildwood, they raised their family together in Norwood, PA. Jim will always be fondly remembered for his love of God, Family, the Eagles, and his brothers at the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 19.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 10th 10:00 am at Saint Madeline’s Roman Catholic Church, 110 Park Street, Ridley Park, PA 19078.  Interment will be private at a later date.  Memorial Gifts in his name may be made to the Jane O’Malley Harakal Scholarship Fund, c/o Interboro High School, 500 16th Avenue, Prospect Park, PA 19076.
