James Matz

James R. Matz, 86, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at 10:30 pm in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital. He was the husband of S. Helen (Kimmons) Matz. Born in Reading, Mr. Matz was the son of the late Frank G. and Ruth (Doyle) Matz. He was an electrical foreman for 41 years with Reading Railroad then Conrail retiring in 1992. Mr. Matz served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was former president of Northmont Beneficial Society. In addition to his wife Mr. Matz is survived by his son James R. Matz, Jr. at home and his grandson Michael James Matz of Nashville, TN.
The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home, North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights Saturday, January 6, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 pm. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mr. James R. Matz.
