James Leese, Jr

James E. Leese, Jr., 91, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at 2:58 pm in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Arlene A. (Miller) Leese to whom he married 68 years ago on April 16, 1949. Born in Reading, Mr. Leese was the son of the late James E. Leese, Sr. and Mary (Hoyer) Leese. He was in the graduating class of 1944 at Perry High School and was a member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Tuckerton. Mr. Leese served in the United States Army during World War II as a Tec 5 in signal corp division. He worked in the shipping department at Continental Can for 41 years. In addition to his wife Arlene, Mr. Leese is survived by his son Tom M. Leese of Las Vegas, Nevada and his daughter Michelle D. Hoover, wife of Robin L. Hoover of Leola and his grandson James Robert Hoover and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step mother Ethel (Scullen) Leese; brother Edward Leese and sisters Grace Alderman and Mary Leese. Mr. Leese loved singing barbershop and was a long time member of the Pretzel City Chorus and the quartet "Never Too Late". He was also an avid Eagles fan.
Memorial Service, with Military Honors to follow, will be held in Good Shepherd United Church of Christ 170 Tuckerton Road, Laureldale, PA 19605, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 5:00 pm. Reverend Dr. Robert A. Stewart will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends in Good Shepherd United Church of Christ Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Good Shepherd United Church of Christ Memorial Fund at the above address in memory of Mr. James E.
