James H. Burson, 89, of West Lawn, passed away March 20, 2011 at 5:20 AM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Gloria M. (Troutman) Burson who passed away June 8, 1998. Born in Rogers, Ohio on November 27, 1921, he was the son of the late Harrison R. and Frances R. (Wolfe) Burson.
James was a 1938 graduate of Newell High School in West Virginia and a graduate of West Virginia University. He was an Army Air Corp. veteran of World War 2 serving as a flight instructor.
James had a lifelong passion for flying in addition to it being his occupation. He was employed for more than 45 years as a corporate pilot. He was a member of AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assn.) and was a Past President of Quiet Birdmen. He maintained his flight instructor's license until the present time.
James is survived by his loving companion Ann Wiegand with whom he resided, 3 daughters Terri A. (Burson) wife of Richard L. Eline of Red Lion, PA, Susan J. (Burson) wife of Jan L. Douglas of East Berlin, PA and Elizabeth B. (Burson) wife of Alan R. King of Allentown, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 sisters.
