Jack Hemmig

Jack H. Hemmig, 94, of Shillington, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 12:30 pm in Reading Hospital.  Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Charles and Nettie (Jacobs) Hemmig.  Mr. Hemmig was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington and was a 1944 graduate of Shillington High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II.   He was head custodian at Governor Mifflin Junior High School for 17 years retiring in 1992.  Mr. Hemmig was a life member of Clover Park Athletic Association, member of American Legion Post #635, member of Reber-Moore Veterans Association, member of Keystone Fire Company in Shillington and member of Reading-Berks Basketball Old Timers.  He is survived by his nieces Dianne M. Himmelreich of Shillington and Debra Button, wife of Jeffrey Button of Vinemont and was preceded in death by his sister Jean Himmelreich.
