Jack Gratz, Jr., 83, of Spring Township, passed away October 9, 2010 at 1:20 pm surrounded by his loving family in ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township, a resident since October 7, 2010. He was a loving husband to Wilda A.(Strong)Gratz, his high school sweetheart, to whom he married on July 28, 1946. Born in Miami, Florida, he was the son of the late Jack Gratz and Maude(Hilton)Waligura. He was a graduate of Miami Senior High School and a graduate of the University of Miami with a bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering and a masters degree in Business Administration. Mr. Gratz began his career as an Industrial Engineer with Western Electric and retired in 1985 as a supervisor following 34 years of service. He served in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard as a fire controlman, 3rd Class. He attended Daytona Beach, Florida Christian Church, was a member of the Society for Advancement of Management, member of AIIE and was past commander of the Schuylkill River Power Squadron. Mr. Gratz was an avid golfer and sailor and was an award winning photographer. In addtion to his wife, he was a loving father to J. Kevin Gratz of Douglassville, Wayne A. Gratz of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Bruce F. Gratz of Fairhaven, Mass. He was a loving grandfather to Sabin C. Gratz. Also surviving is his sister Donna Lee Schulke of West Palm Beach, Florida.
