J. Rickenbach

J. Robert Rickenbach, Jr., 94, formerly of Shillington, passed into peaceful eternity to be with his Lord and Savior on November 4, 2016, at Berks Heim where he resided for the past year. Born on June 17, 1922, he was the son of the late J. Robert Rickenbach, Sr., and Mabel (Ulrich) Rickenbach.
Bob graduated from Shillington High School in 1940 and married the love of his life, Betty Jane Dunkelberger, while on leave from the Navy in 1944. He served his country during WWII and Korea as a sonarman. He retired after more than 35 years as a lab technician in the research and development department at CarTech in 1982 but was also self-employed as a wedding photographer, supply organist, and entertainer for many years. Bob also made a great Santa at Boscov's West during the 70's and 80's.
A member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church since birth, he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served on Church Council. A member of the JG Travelers and past president, he and his wife traveled cross country several times and spent many winters in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his siblings David L., Jean Kronmal and Sylvia Kendall.
In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by his four daughters, Janice E. Maulick (Robert), Karen A. Nein, Loren L. Eisenhofer (Dale), and Marcie S. Bilger (Leonard E. "Chip"); grandchildren Gary, Tom, Matthew, Drew, Erin, Terra and Forrest; great-grandchildren Noah, Matthew, Mallory, Justin, Cerina, Derian, Brixton and Everett; and sister, Marilyn K. Eckert.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be madeto Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Funeral Services will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 Liberty Street, Shillington, on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends and relatives at church from 10-11:00AM. The interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Park with Military Honors.
