Irene Harter

Irene Mary Harter, 94, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 23, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Leo Hans Harter who passed away April 13, 2018. Leo and Irene would have celebrated 74 years of marriage on April 29, 2018. Born in Reading, Mrs. Harter was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Devera) Hiryak. Besides being a loving homemaker, she was employed by Western Electric. She enjoyed decorating the Christmas trees at Ice (Pool) City in Reading and enjoyed her favorite hobby of cake decorating, especially wedding cakes, of which she was proudest. Irene was an avid gardener, always planting and rearranging her flower and vegetable beds. Her sewing abilities from mending to creating outfits and upholstery were only surpassed with her gift of crochet. We will all be forever warm from the blankets she made us. She was a member of the former Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Millmont. Mrs. Harter is survived by her daughters Sandra Lee Grove, wife of the late Gus Nazzaro of Reading; Michele Lee Fromuth, wife of Michael Fromuth of Sinking Spring and Marcia Lee Zerbe, wife of Gregory Zerbe of Leesport and her grandchildren Jason Grove, husband of Allison Grove; Tiffany (Grove) Stein, wife of Tim Stein; Marlelle Fromuth, significant other of Dweh Duncan; Jeremy Zerbe and Brittany Zerbe, fiancAC. of George Asimakopoulous and her great grandchildren Karli Grove; Parker Grove and Teagan Stein. Mrs. Harter was predeceased by her sisters Helen, wife of Harry Ballas; Julia, wife of John Jablonski; Pauline, wife of Bruno Listrani; Mary, wife of Edward Kozlowski and her brother Michael Hiryak.

Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reverend Kerry L. Hicks will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Monday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Salvation Army 301 South 5th Street, Reading, PA 19602 in memory of Mrs. Irene Mary Harter.
