Howard Widener

Howard J. Widener, 81, of Robeson Twp., passed away February 6, 2011 at 6:49 AM in Fairmount Home near Ephrata where he resided since March 31, 2005. He was the husband of Naomi E. (Hasker) Widener. Born in Scranton on September 23, 1929, he was the son of the late Merrill S. and Leona (Williams) Widener.


Mr. Widener was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Howard was a member of Monterey Chapel in Leola.


He was employed as the Supervisor of Claims by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry for 31 years retiring December of 1989. He also worked as a Sales Associate at Boscov's for 37 years retiring in 2003.


In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters Ellen R. Widener at home and Beth L. Widener of Robeson Twp. Mr. Widener was predeceased by a sister Janet S. (Widener) Knorr.
