Helen Shollenberger

Helen I. (Wentzel) Shollenberger, 98, of Reading, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.


Born in Bern, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel P. Wentzel and Tamah D. (Klopp) Wentzel. She was the widow of Earl E. Shollenberger, who passed away on June 17, 1982.


She was the oldest living parishioner of Nativity Lutheran Church, and a life member of the 50 plus Club at the Church.


She is survived by her son: Denton E. Shollenberger, husband of Emily Shollenberger of Quakertown; and a daughter: Brenda L., wife of Sterling M. Schappel Jr. of Greenfields.


There are also five grandchildren: Daniel, Matthew, Jarrod, Jenessa, and Jillian; and five great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Natalie, Matthew, Jeffrey, and baby Speicher.


She is also survived by a brother: Samuel P. Wentzel Jr. of Hamburg, Sister: Beulah (Wentzel) Miller of Leesport, Elsie (Wentzel) Faust of Shillington, and Marian (Wentzel) Solt of Walnutport, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
