Helen Schmehl

Helen G. Schmehl, 93, of Exeter Township, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 4:05 pm in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital. She was the wife of the late John M. Schmehl who passed away March 14, 1998. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Grace (Ammarell) Kott. She was a member of New Apostolic Church in Exeter Township and was employed by Kott's Bakery in Reading as an office employee and for UGI as a key punch operator. Mrs. Schmehl is survived by her children Richard J. Schmehl, husband of Nancy A. Schmehl of Muhlenberg Township and Susan H. Fleisch, wife of Gale M. Fleisch of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren Corbin G. Fleisch, husband of Melissa R. Fleisch of Denver, Colorado; Tammi E. Schmehl of Reading and Zachary J. Schmehl of Philadelphia along with her 5 great grandchildren of Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Schmehl was preceded in death by her brother Alfred Kott.
Funeral Services will be held in Bean Funeral Home, North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights, Friday, January 22, 2016 at 7:00 pm Reverend Kenneth Hoelzle will officiate. Interment will be held privately by the family in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday 5:30-6:45 pm.
