Helen Elizabeth Mary (Stubblebine) Reber, 93, died peacefully on June 27 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt Joy. The daughter of Raymond and Nellie (Haughney) Stubblebine. Helen was born and raised in Reading and lived for many years in Mohnton. Since 1987 she resided at Willow Valley Lakes, Willow Street. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, C. Clifford Reber, and her dear sister Margaret.
Helen is survived by her sons, Jan and Alan Reber, their spouses, children, and grandchildren as well as her sister Kathy, her brother Raymond and nieces and nephews.
Helen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Reading and devoted herself to supporting mission work around the world. She was a founding member of the Dorcas Society, an organization that coordinated mission field donations and support for missionaries who were home on furlough.
Helen was a dedicated letter-writer, and in her adult life rarely went a day without getting cheery notes in the mail to her family, friends, and to missionaries she supported. Helen continued writing until taken to the hospital, and it is likely that there are still letters from her on the way to some of her far-flung correspondents.
Bean Funeral Homes of Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements. The interment will be private. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at a later date at Willow Valley where she had many wonderful friends and caring staff.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Gideons International.
