Hedwig Bickel

Hedwig L. (nee Nepple) Bickel, 94, of Reading, passed away Thursday, May 20th, 2009 at Manor Care, Laureldale, where she had been a patient for 5 1/2 years.

Born in Stuttgart, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Nepple and Fredericka B. (Lauer) Nepple, and the widow of Walter B. Bickel, who passed away on January 20, 2003.

She worked as a candy packer for Luden's Candy Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1954, and worked as a coil winder for Electric Coil in Temple for 9 years, retiring in 1977.

She is survived by her nieces: Bonnie, wife of Patrick Fierro of Temple, Judy, widow of David Neiman of Boyertown; and nephews: Carl, husband of Cheri Volker of Mohrsville, and Joseph, husband of Jean Nepple of Reinholds.

There are also many great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was pre deceased by a brother: G. Robert Nepple, and two sisters: Martha N. Wolf and Hilda Volker.
