Hazel Irene (Moyer) Cunningham, 88, died October 10, 2015 in Berks Heim.
She was born June 3, 1927, and was a daughter of the late George Harvey and Vesta Ella (Delp) Moyer.
Hazel was a 1945 graduate of the former Birdsboro High School, a lifelong member of the Alumni Association, as well as a member of Incarnation Lutheran Church where she served as a volunteer secretary for 10 years.
She was an avid mother and homemaker in her early years of raising a family, and later held various positions as an administrative assistant for The American Baptist Organization, Snow King Frozen Foods and Landis and Gyr before retiring in 1992. Her award winning beef stroganoff recipe was published in the Pottstown Mercury in 1968.
Hazel was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey and Clair LeRoy Moyer; by two sisters Erma Moyer and Grace (Moyer) VanPelt, all of Birdsboro, PA.
Surviving are two sons: John (Jack) A. Cunningham and wife Janet of Quakertown, PA and James (Jim) S. Cunningham of Reading. Hazel is also survived by her grandson, Jason W. Cunningham and wife Brittany, of Mount Joy, PA; and her granddaughter, Molly L. Cunningham of Naples, FL. She took joy in her great-granddaughter Annabelle, and great-grandson Harrison. Also surviving is a cousin George Moyer and wife Barbara, of Reading.
In her usual self-less manner, she talked for years of wanting to donate her body to medical science for research, and has made this donation to Humanity Gifts Registry. Services for the family will be private.
