Harold Koehler

Harold "Ollie" Koehler, 81, of Spring Township, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in his residence. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Natalie V. (Baer) Koehler. Born in Berkshire Heights , Mr. Koehler was the son of the late Burkhard and Elsie (Stollberger) Koehler. He was a 1954 graduate of Wilson High School and attended Tri-City Barber School in Philadelphia. Mr. Koehler served 8 years in the Naval Reserve. He was the owner of Ollies Barber Stylist in West Lawn and worked several years at Anthony's Barber Shop in Wyomissing. He also established several other businesses including OK Kleening and after attaining Series 6, established OK Financial Investments. After retirement he had many hobbies and interests, including watercolor painting, lathe turning exotic wood into pens and other items. He also enjoyed many trips to museums and art exhibits with his wife. As opera fans, they enjoyed many seasons at the Metropolitan Opera and Opera Philadelphia. Together they spent many winters at their condominium in Naples, Florida. They also enjoyed many vacation travels in the United States and Europe. Writing poetry was his last and most absorbing interest, winning the 2015 Berks Encore Senior Poetry Contest, and sharing third place in 2016. In addition to his wife Natalie, Mr. Koehler is survived by his brother Henry Koehler, husband of the late Helen Koehler of The Highlands at Wyomissing . Also surviving are his nieces and nephews Brenda Koehler; Craig Koehler; Nancy, wife of Conrad Yeager; Lisa Frank; David Koehler; Karen, wife of Michael Achenbach; Ellen, wife of Paul Merlesena; Bonnie, wife of Tony Riley; Robin Hughes; Diane, wife of William Runyeon; Robert, husband of Lisa Heck; Carol Hickman; Cheryl Rochester; John Baer, Jr.; Sharon Wilbanks; Tony Baer; Sherry Hornbrook; Susette McNeil; Thomas Baer; Rosemary Sanders and his sister in law Mary Welch.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reverend Jeffrey A. Raffauf will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Tuesday 10:00-11:00 am.
