Haller G. "Bros" LaRue Sr., 86, of Wyomissing, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 2:30 a.m. at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since last Monday.
Born in Tucson, Arizona, he was the son of the late Samuel F. LaRue and Maria R. (Gross) LaRue. He was the widower of Frances L. (Chelius) LaRue, who passed away on October 28, 2008.
He was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School, where he excelled in Football and Track, and 1947 graduate of Albright University, with a BS in Chemistry.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and flew 40 missions over France and Italy.
He worked for 35 years at Glidden Co., retiring in 1986 after several years as a Plant Manager. He was a member of St. John Baptist de La Salle R.C.C.
He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying golfing and fishing.
He is survived by his sons: Haller G. "Red" LaRue Jr., husband of Kathy LaRue of Reading, and John P. LaRue, husband of Diane of Corpus Christi, TX; and a daughter: Elizabeth L. (LaRue) Price, wife of William F. Price III of Reading.
There are also eight grandchildren: Andrew, Amy, Trey, Peter, Elizabeth, Julia, John, and Mark; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a brother: Sam LaRue and a sister: Pauline (LaRue) Hertzog.
