Gerald L. “Jerry” Sauppee, 86, of Spring Township, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 8:30 am in his residence. He was the husband of the late Sharon D. (DiFulvio) Sauppee who passed away November 20, 2009. Born in Reading, Jerry was the son of the late J. Robert Sauppee, Sr. and Magdaline (Cady) Sauppee. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading and served as their Cursillo Retreat Leader and was a graduate of Rudemar School of Beauty & Cosmetology in Philadelphia and studied in Washington, D.C. and New York City. Jerry was the owner, operator and president of L’Officiel Hair Salon for 60 years until his retirement. He was a founder of Berks County Lupus Foundation with his wife Sharon; served as president of Midvale Manor Lions Club and received Merit Award for Fresh Air Fund. Jerry is survived by his children Michele P. Sauppee-Snyder wife of Donald M. Snyder of Muhlenberg Township; Denise M. “Dede” Sauppee at home; Jerry L. Sauppee, Jr. of Spring Township; Marilyn Ramirez wife of Samuel Ramirez of Reading and his grandchildren Alexandra E., Isabella S., Alyssa R., Vanessa, Felicia L. and his 6 great  grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his infant son in 1962. Also surviving are his sister-in-laws Donna Gentry wife of Doug Gentry and Denise Walker wife of Bill Walker and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings Patricia Ray; Robert Sauppee, Jr.; James Sauppee, Sr.; R. Joseph Sauppee, Sr. and also Daniel and Sara (Lucchese) DiFulvio; Marilyn Clifford wife of Lee Clifford. Jerry is also survived by his close friend and caretaker Michael Nally with whom he last resided.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Gerald L.
