Gerald Albert Cropp, 90, of Flying Hills, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at The Reading Hospital. He was the loving husband to Eleanor A. (Gutgesell) for over 67 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, Gerald was the son of the late John Albert Cropp, and Rose A. (Gill). He served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. He later graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English from LaSalle College. He progressed from Telephone Lineman to Copy Writer and PR Staff Associate at Bell Telephone. Later he worked for UGI and Penelec Corporations as Communications Manager. Still later, he worked as an Account Supervisor for LSI Communications for over 15 years before his retirement in 1992.
Gerald was an avid auto enthusiast who cherished his Austin Healey and Alfa Romeo sports cars. He also enjoyed travelling the world with his wife Eleanor. Together they visited Ireland, Spain, Italy, France and Germany and took innumerable domestic trips. He was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. He loved photography and film production, producing short films including a documentary. He adored Cool Jazz artists, and of course, Sinatra.
In addition to his wife Eleanor, Gerald is survived by his children, Gerald Andrew Cropp, husband of Lori, of Paoli and Kristin Rodriguez, wife of Valentin, of Wyomissing. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sierra Rodriguez, Andres Rodriguez, and brother, Robert Cropp.
Gerald is predeceased by his sister Reda Cunnion.
