George “Red” D. Mogel, Sr., 92, formerly of Bernville, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Phoebe Berks. Born in Mohrsville, he was the son of the late Herbert and Viola (Nelson) Mogel. Red was the husband of the late Virginia (Casper) Mogel whom passed June 21, 2014. He worked as a mechanic and body man for various body shops. Red was an accomplished bass guitarist and played in many local bands until he created his own band called, the Naturals. He played all over the Reading area and his favorite song was “Little Red Wagon”. Red was very involved in charities, mostly the food pantry at many different churches.
Red is survived by his children; Jay E. Mogel, Gary L. Mogel, Jody Mogel-Faust, Richard L. Mogel, Allen H. Mogel, Raymond F. Mogel, Carl L. Mogel and his step children, Candis Snyder, wife of Ronald K. Snyder, Bryan Royer, and Alan Royer. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and his sister, Louise, of Florida. Red is preceded in death by his son, George D. Mogel, Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 in Bean Funeral Homes, 3825 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring at 12:00pm. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, June 16th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Thursday, June 17th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in Bean Funeral Homes, Sinking Spring. Interment will follow the funeral service at Pleasant View Cemetery. Bean Funeral Homes, Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
