George W. Kochard, 88, of Shillington, passed away January 1, 2011 in his residence. He was the husband of Bernice B. (Faust) Kochard. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Emily (Longacre) Kochard. He graduated from Reading High School and joined the army, serving in a Tank Destroyer Unit of the Fifth Army in the Northern African and Italian campaings. He participated in the invasion of Anzio in January 1944. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for 35 years with Bell Atlantic retiring as a Supervisor of PBX Repair in 1981. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shillington. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, David A. Kochard of Cumru Township, Dennis J. Kochard of Shillington, Dale A. husband of Beverly J. Kochard of Allentown and Deborah J. wife of Peter Seagreaves of West Lawn. Also surviving are grandchildren Sean C. husband of Suzie Kochard; Tara B. Kochard; A. Peter Seagreaves; Nicholas G. Kochard Pamela wife of John Boguslowski, great grandchildren Brendan Speicher and Siobhan Kochard, Valerie Boguslowski. He is also survived by siblings Walter Kochard of Virginia, Shirley Gable of Shillington, Vivian Springer of Spring Township, Jane Stetson of North Carolina.
