George J. Dunbar, 79, of Spring Township, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 11:29 pm, surrounded by his loving family in his home. He was the husband of Lillian J. (Clemison) Dunbar, and they were married for 57 years. Born in Reading, Mr. Dunbar was the son of the late Joseph H. and Edith M. (Matz) Dunbar. He was a 1954 graduate of Reading High School and was employed by Willson Safety Products for 38 years, retiring from Cacoosing Industries. He also enjoyed serving his community as a school bus driver for Wilson School District in retirement. George proudly served in the U.S. Air National Guard from 1954-1962.
In addition to his wife Lillian, Mr. Dunbar is survived by his daughter, Heather L. (Dunbar) Sellars, wife of D. Troy Sellars of Hershey, along with his two granddaughters, Shelby M. Sellars and Ashley C. Sellars.
George spent many years sailing the Chesapeake Bay with his family and friends. He loved music, reading, history, airplanes, and fast cars. He was an amazing, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. George had a soft spot for rescue animals and especially for his granddaughters Shelby and Ashley. The girls mutually adored their "Poppy". He could often be found (and heard) driving around town and attending car shows in his beautiful red 1934 Chevy coupe street rod. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 1:00pm. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm and Thursday from Noon-1:00pm .In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Castaway Critters, PO Box 1421, Harrisburg, PA 17105-1421 or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave. 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 in memory of Mr. George J.
