George N. Brown, 88, of Wernersville, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 5:27 pm at Phoebe Berks Health Care Center. He was the husband of Barbara M. (Miller) Brown. Born in Washington, D.C., Mr. Brown was the son of the late Francis W. and Abby (Lane) Brown.
He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University, a Master’s degree in Physics from Franklin and Marshall College, and served in the United States Army. Mr. Brown had a successful 36-year career as an Electrical Engineer at Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies. He was passionate about sharing his love of the outdoors, including skiing, sailing, and camping, with his three sons Kenneth Y. Paradox husband of Barucha J. Paradox of Shoreline, Washington; Gary F. Brown husband of Elaine L. Brown of Muhlenberg Township; Daniel G. Brown spouse of Mark W. Brown of Seattle, Washington. He was actively involved as a Boy Scout parent and with the Flying Dutchman Ski Club and gave back to his community in the Lion’s Club. He remained active in later life through travel, bicycling, tennis, and skiing and enjoyed reading.
In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by his grandchildren Seth Paradox, Waverly Paradox, Matthew Brown, Bradley Brown, Emily Brown, Eleanor Brown and his great grandchildren Kairo Paradox Hall and Abigail Brown. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his sister Lois Oakes.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church 2848 St. Alban’s Drive, Sinking Spring on Saturday, August 31, 2024 beginning at 10:30 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Reverend Michelle Moyer will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation at cbf.org or the charity of your choice.
