Gene Fizz

Gene E. Fizz, 88, a resident at Country Meadows of Wyomissing, PA passed away on April 28, 2022.  Born and raised in Reading, Mr. Fizz graduated from Reading High School in 1951. He spent his career in sales, working for Metropolitan Life, Procter & Gamble, Shulton, and Houbigant. Ultimately, he created his own business, Fiske Intergem, selling jewelry and giftware, and ended his career as a diamond salesman. Gene was an avid golfer and card player and enjoyed fine food and wine. He was also a member of the Greater Reading Encore Chorus. He embodied the philosophy “Live, laugh, love.”

Mr. Fizz is survived by his children, Christine E. Crandell (Kenneth) of Columbia, Maryland; Robyn L. Fizz of Medford, Massachusetts; Roderick R. Fizz (Cynthia Cifrese) of Cumru Township; his 4 grandchildren – Kevin A. Crandell; Lauren E. (Crandell) Blanchard; Alison M. (Cifrese) Romash; and Laura A. (Cifrese) Sholtz; and 2 great grandchildren – Camden S. Blanchard; and Arlowe J. Romash. He is also survived by longtime partner Sue Harenza.

Mr. Fizz was preceded in death by his first wife Marilyn K. (Bohn) Fizz and his second wife Jean (Auker) Seyfert; his parents, Earl S. and Pearl M. (Moyer) Fizz; brothers Gary J. Fizz and Harry J. Fizz; and sister Phoebe P. Moyer.

A family viewing was held at Bean Funeral Home on Sunday, May 1. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, June 23 at 2:30PM at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Berks County.
