Gene Bland

Gene R. Bland, 87, of Shillington, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 2:20 pm. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia A. (Albright) Bland, who passed away July 29, 1971 and his second wife Edna E. (Krantz) Bland, who passed away October 1, 1991. Born in Reading he was the son of the late Edward Bland and Emma (Oxenrider) Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his step father Irvin Phillips. He was a mechanic at Hope Hosiery in Adamstown for 25 years, retiring July 21, 1995 and was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Shillington. Mr. Bland is survived by his daughters, Kathy F. Moyer of Ocean, New Jersey; Audrey A. Bland of Pottsville and Jean S. Greely, wife of Jeremy Greely of Temple. He is also survived by his grandchildren Angelia Moyer Ross; Melissa Moyer Kirchner; Brandon Wells; Amber Rivera; Alisha Rivera; Michael Walsh and Christopher Walsh and his great grandchildren Madalyn and Andrew Kirchner; Cole Ross; Hannah Ziniewicz; Allie Ross and Greydon Aquino. Mr. Bland is also survived by his sister Patricia Snyder of Shillington; his friend Grace Sweitzer and 5 nieces and was preceded in death by his sister Delores Heilinger.
Funeral Services will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10:00 am. Reverend Richard M. Reilly will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 4-6:00 pm and Monday 9:30-10:00 am.
