Gary Lee Snyder, Sr, 90, of Robesonia passed away Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 with his wife by his side at Eagle Heights Hospice Unit of Lebanon VA Medical Center.
Born in Grill, Pa on December 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Roger and Eva (Schaeffer) Snyder. He is survived by his wife Jean D (Nunemaker) Snyder. They were married August the 11, 1956 by Rev. Arthur Naugle at St. James Lutheran Church in Reading.
Married over 68 years, they were always together. They loved to travel our wonderful country, and toured 40 of the 50 states – wishing they could have finished the last 10. He was alert and ready to go “at the drop of a hat” to any casino around. Their best trips to casinos were to Las Vegas.
He is also survived by his 3 children, Gary L Jr, wife Sally of Whitfield, Sinking Spring, Pa; Barry J, wife Karen of Freeport, Fl; Lory J Weaver, husband Barry of Womelsdorf, Pa; 7 Grandchildren; Brooke, Heather, Jordan, Connor, Dylan, Lyndsey, Ashley; 9 great grandchildren, Dalton, Oliver, Jacob, Jackson, Parker, George, Archer, Emmett, and Reese. He is also survived by Sister Shirley Bolig. Gary was adored by both grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gary was predeceased by Brothers Roger, Clarence, Robert, Donald, Gerland and Sister Virginia.
He graduated from Reading High School class of 1951. Together they owned a business for 16 years. He later retired from Reading Eagle CO as a supervisor in the circulation department.
He served this great country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war and will be buried with military honors.
He was a faithful member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn, Pa.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:30 am. Reverend Thomas Irwin, Jr. and Reverend William B. Fryer, Jr. will officiate. Interment with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard will follow at St. John’s (Hain’s) Church Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
