Gary W. DeWees, Sr.

              Gary W. DeWees, Sr., 81, of Wernersville passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in Berks Heim Nursing Home.  Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Wayne DeWees and Anna E. (Schaeffer) Barlet, wife of Wilson Barlet.  He was the loving husband of Doris M. (Goheen) DeWees and together they would have shared 65 years of marriage in September.  Gary worked as a Supervisor at Lynette’s Candy for 45+ years before retiring.  He was an avid hunter and previously had a camp in Potter County.  Gary was very proud of his trophies and had them on display in his home.  He enjoyed fishing and traveling with Doris.  They went on cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Caribbean Islands.  Gary loved going to the Reading Fairgrounds with his son.  He cherished every moment spent with his family and will be greatly missed.

               In addition to his wife, Doris, Gary is survived by his children; Gary W. DeWees, Jr., husband of Fayann of Muhlenberg Township, Deidre M. Sprecher, wife of Jeff of Narvon, and Andrea M. Reinsmith, of Pine Grove.  Also surviving are his grandchildren; Molly Reinsmith, Sam Palm, Emily Palm, Chris Sprecher, Katie Sprecher, Elisha Zimmerman, wife of Charlie, Tabitha Kopicz, wife of Troy, his great grandchildren; Lindsey Zimmerman, Zachary Zimmerman, Courtney, Chloe, and Mason, his God son, Billy Goheen, Billy’s son, Elijah Goheen, who Gary treated as a grandchild, and three stepsisters.

               A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11:30 am in Bean Funeral Homes, 3825 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.  Celebrant Amy Landis will celebrate.  The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, July 6^th from 10:30 am to 11:30 am in Bean Funeral Homes, Sinking Spring.  Inurnment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mr. Gary W.
