Frederic Vischer

Frederic Michael Vischer, known to many as Michael, passed away peacefully at his home in Hartsville on January 13, 2018. He was 68.

Born on March 2, 1949, Michael was the beloved only child to Rose (Kakos) and Budd Vischer who preceded him in death.

Michael was the loving husband of Dorothy (Shriver) Vischer. Their marriage was one of endless love and devotion. Together, Michael and Dorothy loved to travel and spend time with their sweet Dalmatian, Sierra.

In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his children Jason Appleton (Julie) of Spring Lake, NC and Janice Knowlton (Ryan) of Jamison, PA. One of Michael's greatest joys was to spend time with his grandchildren, Hannah, Alivia and Cash who lovingly called him Mickey.

Michael attended St. Raymond's Elementary School in Philadelphia and Augusta Military Academy in Fort Defiance, VA.

For nearly 50 years Michael worked in the funeral industry. During this time he worked for York Caskets, Boyertown Caskets and Messenger Corporation before starting his own business, Vischer Funeral Supplies in 1983. Over the years Michael was also very active in the community serving on the Board of Directors for Warrington Township, the Warrington Rotary Club and the neighborhood civic association.

Michael was the most generous man and was blessed to have a life full of many extended family members, close friends and business associates. Michael will be missed by all for his quick wit, kindness and love for others.

Relatives and friends will be received beginning at 10am until his funeral mass at 11am on Wednesday, January 17th at Saint Cyril of Jerusalem RCC, 1410 Almshouse Rd., Jamison, PA 18929. Interment will be held in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd, Reading. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Michael's name to Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850-5168 or to Saint Cyril of Jerusalem Church.
