Frank Levandowski

April 21, 1926 — December 23, 2017

Frank S. Levandowski, age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Country Meadows, Wyomissing. He was the widower of June (Miller) Levandowski with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
He was born in Reading on April 21, 1926. He was the son of the late Veronica (Markeiwicz) Lewandowski and Frank Joseph Lewandowski.
Frank graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1944 and was drafted into the Army. After basic training at Fort Benning he was sent to Fr. Bragg NC to the 82nd ABN Division. He served his country during WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1947. He then attended Deforest TV and Electronics School in Chicago and went on to make a career in the electronics industry. He retired in 1991 from Executone Telephone Systems as a Healthcare Sales Manager, serving hospital and nursing home accounts.
After retirement he and June traveled extensively in their motor home throughout the US and Mexico. They also enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Spain and Italy.
Frank had many hobbies and interests. For years he enjoyed candy making and became affectionately known at Country Meadows as "The Candy Man." Other interests included woodworking, fishing and baking his Polish bread for family and friends. He was an active member of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church in Millmont, serving as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and former President of Serra Club of Reading. He was always a proud veteran and never missed the WWII airshow or any other WWII related activities.
Surviving are his son Mark, husband of Lisa, Exeter; and two daughters, Cindy, wife of Barry Sweigart, West Lawn; and Sharon, wife of Craig Huntsinger, Hamburg. He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Mazurie, wife of Leon Mazurie, II of Fleetwood, who passed away June 21, 2015. There are also five grandchildren: Eric Levandowski, Maura Levandowski, Craig Huntsinger, Cory Huntsinger and Christopher Huntsinger. There are 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Levandowski, husband of Betty, of Reading. In addition to his family, he is survived by his companion, Marilyn Herzog.
Frank's warmth and quick wit will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff at Country Meadows, Bayada Home Health and Heartland Hospice for support over the years and through Frank's final days.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township at the convenience of the family. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held for all friends and family at Country Meadows in January; the date and time to be determined.
