Frank S. Casper, 91, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away June 6, 2010 at 2:55 pm in The Reading Hospital & Medical Center where he was a patient since June 2, 2010. He was the husband of Vivian E. (Coller) Casper. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Frank and Mamie L. (Kline) Casper. Mr. Casper was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School, 1949 graduate of Albright College with a BS degree in History and received his Masters degree in Psychology from Temple University in 1967. He began his career in 1954 at Tilden Township Elementary School as a Science and Social Studies teacher, then was employed as a History Teacher at Gov. Mifflin Junior High School and retired as the schools guidance counselor in 1984. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Reading and served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a former member of church council and a longtime Sunday School Teacher. He was past president of South Berks Asso. of Retired School employees, member of Southeran Middle School Hall of Fame and was the first director at the church for the Reading School District After School Tutoring program. In addition to his wife, Mr. Casper is survived by his daughters, Vicky L. wife of Michael G. Pfeifer of Wyomissing, Beverly D. wife of Laurence M. McGrath of Ephrata and Kathy L. wife of James H. Bretz of Adamstown. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry S. Casper. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Casper was preceded in death by his brother Harold Gensemer.
