Frances M. Russo

Frances M. Russo 95, of Reading Pa, went to our Heavenly Father & Lord on January 6, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late Santo J. Russo who passed away in 2004, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Born on May 28, 1929, she was the only child of Rose & Anthony De George, owners of De George Clothing, Reading & Perkasie Pants Company in Perkasie Pa. Anthony also founded Fifty-Fifty Tuxedos in 1929.

Frances graduated from Reading High School & McCann’s Business School. She was a former member of Alpha lota Sorority. Santo & Frances married in 1951, following their marriage they owned & operated Fifty-Fifty Tuxedos for 50 years.

Frances was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church & a choir member for over 70 years. She was vice president of the Rosary Society. She was also very active at Reading Central Catholic High School where she was financial secretary of the Mother’s Club.

Frances loved her family & spending time with her nine grandchildren & seven great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing piano, singing, traveling, entertaining and was a wonderful cook. When Frances & Santo retired, they enjoyed spending time at their beach house in Myrtle Beach.

Surviving are her daughters Josephine Ann (Russo) Miller married to John R. Stevens of Lititz Pa., Kristine Marie (Russo) Wholaver married to Harry T. Wholaver, Reading, Pa & her two sons, Anthony De George Russo and Gerard Santo Russo married to Louise C. Russo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church 237 Franklin Street Reading, PA 19602. Reverend Monsignor Joseph A. DeSantis, Celebrant. Entombment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church at the above address or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mrs. Frances M.
