Florence L. O'Brien, 85, formerly of Spring Township passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Kutztown Manor where she resided. She was the beloved wife of the late James A O'Brien who passed away on April 3, 2001. Born in Oneida, New York she was the daughter of the late Richard Anthony and Flora (Haenlin) Anthony. During her early years she was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York and later on as a buyer for Crompton & Knowles in Gibraltar, PA, retiring in 1997.Florence is survived by her children, Jeanne K. Biehl, wife of Timothy, of Fleetwood; Jill D. Miller, wife of Chester, of Blandon; Joan C. Lee, wife of Scott, of Bel Air, MD; Joseph A. O'Brien, husband of JoAnn, of Birdsboro. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Marshall, of New York; Peggy Gourley of Nebraska; and Brother Richard Anthony of Illinois. She was predeceased by her son James M. O'Brien who passed away on March 29, 2010. Florence was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family. She loved to travel and will be missed by many.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, 19608 at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday at the church from 10:00-10:30am. Online condolences may be made to www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
