Florence A. Milshaw. 96. of Exeter Township. formeriy of Hampden Heights. Reading, died April 21, 2016 in
Penn State Health st. Joseph Hospital. Her devoted daughter was at her side.
Born in Plymouth, PAshe was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Helena (Dargel) Bahr. She was the loving
wife of the late Stephen J. Milshaw.
Florence was a 1938 graduate of Plymouth High School, Luzerne County, PA. Her first position was at Wilkes-
Barre's popular Percy Brown's. The war years brought Florence to Birdsboro to live with her god-parents
Aunt Katherine and Uncle Frank Romanick.
The war years also took her fiance, Stephen to Annapolis MD. They were married July 8, 1945 by Father
Joseph Kelly in Immaculate Conception Church, Birdsboro.
Florence is survived by her daughter Susan, wife of Nunzio Bolognese. Also her god-sons John Evans, John J.
Buckley II and John J. Buckley III, and god-daughter Gloria Wyvill. She was predeceased by her sister Bertha
Dadey and brothers Ted and Bernard Bahr. Also god-sons John Milsho and John Stoudt.
There are many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Her adopted Buckley family was always
close to her heart and in her prayers. She worked for over twenty years in the medical practice of Drs. John J.
Buckley and Casimir Wanczyk.
Florence's Catholic faith was a blessing to her. She was active in the Women's Auxiliary of st. Peter's Catholic
School as publicity chairman. She also headed the Girl Scout group and the Brownies. The family joined St.
Joseph's Catholic Church in 1962 and remained loyal members for fifty four years. Recently Florence looked
forward to the monthly First Friday Communion visits with Sr. Patricia, Msgr. Grabish, or Fr. Ganser. Her final
visit was the day she passed.
Florence had a full and blessed life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and god-mother, kind aunt, dear
friend, and a mother figure to many. She loved them all and they loved her in return.
She had a deep love for young people and received phone calls, post cards, and notes while they were away
at college. "Aunt Florence" became a Penn State fan in her later years because of "the kids". She was always
looking forward to cheer them in their accomplishments and encourage them in their setbacks. If you were
on her birthday list, you were never forgotten. For this and so much more she is deeply loved and will be
deeply missed.
The family wishes to thank the ERand Critical Care staff at Penn State Health st. Joseph Hospital for the
compassionate care she received in her final hours. Also, loving thanks to nurse Tiffany whose lively spirit and
loving heart brought smiles to Florence every Saturday.
