Fern Werner

Fern A. Beamenderfer Werner, 97, formerly of Alsace Township, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 8:40 pm in Berkshire Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband Clarence J. Beamenderfer, Sr., September 20, 1981 and by her second husband Amos J. Werner, October 4, 1996. Born in Adamstown, Fern was the daughter of the late Edwin and Jennie E. (Griffith) Binkley. She was a member of Salem Shalter's Lutheran Church and served as past president of Salem Shalter's Cemetery Board and was member of Berks County Cemetery Board along with serving as a Notary Public in Berks County. Fern was a tax collector in Alsace Township for 14 years and was employed by the former Fleetwood Shirt Factory. She is survived by her son David J. Beamenderfer, husband of Faye A. Beamenderfer of Temple and her daughters Joanne L. Hotzman, wife of the late Russell M. Hotzman of Temple and Karen E. Levengood, wife of John H. Levengood of Fleetwood and her step daughter Gloria E. Schwab, wife of Ignatz Schwab of Fleetwood along with 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Fern is also survived by her sister Vera J. Werner of Douglassville and was preceded in death by her son Clarence J. Beamenderfer, Jr., February 7, 1971; her step son Gerald F. Werner; her sisters Nema G. Achenbach; Edna Breckley and Dorothy Reich.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights, Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00 am. Reverend Lesley J. Hand will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Shalter's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Friday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Salem Shalter's Lutheran Church 2032 Mount Laurel Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522 in memory of Mrs. Fern A. Beamenderfer Werner.
