Fern Welker

Fern M. Welker, 88, of Cumru Township, passed away November 6, 2010 at 2:00 am in The Reading Hospital & Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Calvin T. Welker who passed away in 1995. Born in Shillington, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Emma (Wolfe) Eckenroth. She was the owner of Welker's Day Care in Reading for 15 years. Mrs. Welker was an active member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Shillington where she made over 100 afghan blankets for Hospice patients and was presented an award. She had a passion for singing. She is survived by her son C. Thomas husband of Karin Welker of West Lawn, daughters Karen E. Metzger, companion of Benjamin P. Demain at home and Nancy K. wife of Ronald Bankes of TN along with her grandchildren Rhonda Malina, Lisa Whelan, Robert Bankes, Michael Metzger, Kyle Demain, Olivia Welker and Nathan Welker along with 4 great grandchildren.
