Evelyn Miller

February 20, 1925 — May 29, 2009

Evelyn Miller, 84, formerly of Freedom Village in Coatesville and a longtime resident of Willistown Acres, Malvern, passed away on May 29, 2009 at the Colonial Care Center.

Evelyn was born in Reading, PA on February 20, 1925. She grew up in Reading, attending grade school and graduating Reading High School there before her marriage to William C. Miller on April 27, 1947. Except for a few years in Reading and Dayton, Ohio, Evelyn and Bill spent most of their lives in Chester County: on Long Lane in Malvern and at The Highlands in Berwyn.

After Bill's retirement, they spent winters in their home at The Landings in Savannah, GA where Evelyn was an active volunteer at the Children's Center of the Savannah Hospital. Evelyn was a volunteer dental assistant with the school dental program for many years. She also participated in several bridge groups. Evelyn was a faithful room mother to both her children throughout their years at Sugartown School and for several years she was the room mother chairman. Evelyn's greatest joy was family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Karen and Craig, and a delightful Nana to her grandchildren, Michael, Ashley and Rebecca. Evelyn loved the Christmas season when the entire family would gather for long standing family traditions. She always remembered every kindness with a small gift, note or token; she loved to do things for others.

Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Mary Heim of Shillington, PA and Joanne Cleres of Arvada, CO, her children Craig Miller, husband of Sue Miller of Harrisburg, PA and Karen Johnson, wife of Peter Moseley of Gering, NE and three grandchildren, Ashley and Rebecca Miller and Michael Johnson. Her husband, William C. Miller, her parents, Emma and Thomas Messer, and her brother, Tom Messer, preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the library at the Sugartown Elementary School in Malvern, PA. Checks should be made out to Great Valley Trust & Agency Fund and in the memo line write:
