Evelyn Esterly

March 14, 1926 — March 27, 2011

Evelyn E. Esterly, 85, formerly of Reinholds, passed away March 27, 2011 in Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown surrounded by her loving family. She was married to Carlile J. "Carl" Esterly on December 16, 1944 in Elkton, MD, until he passed away January 28, 1997. Born in Reading Hospital on March 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Helen (Hainley) Weller.


She and Carl were co owners of Esterly's Used Trucks and Miss Evelyn's Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Business in West Lawn.


Evelyn was an avid gardener and lover of BINGO, where she had many friends. She spent much time in the Florida Keys with her family enjoying deep sea fishing. She also enjoyed spending the month of August in Atlantic City watching her daughters dance on Steel Pier and yearly trips to The Miss America Pageant.


Evelyn had a great spirit about her and loved people. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great fan of Dancing with the Stars and a great lover of animals.


She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Reading for the past 65 years.


Evelyn is survived by 2 daughters Carlene Jean (Esterly) wife of Dr. Gary Poster of Glens Falls, New York and Collene Esterly-Hamm wife of Mark R. Hamm of Lenhartsville, a son Carlile G. "Carl" Esterly, Sr. of Womelsdorf, six grandchildren Brittni Poster of New York City, Myles J. Poster of College Park, Maryland, Cassandra Moll and Dillon Moll both of Lenhartsville, Tammy Dellinger of Fishers Hills, Virginia and Carl G. Esterly, Jr of Womelsdorf, two great grandchildren Piper Dellinger and Gabriella Esterly and two sisters Erma (Weller) LaPage and her husband Joseph of Reading and Betty (Weller) Kerber of Allentown. She was predeceased by 5 brothers and sisters.


The family would like to thank Manor Care Nursing Center, Brenda, Nancy, Myra and the rest of the wonderful staff. A special and loving thanks to Dr. Rakesh Malhotra for his wonderful care!
