Evelyn Bordner

Evelyn L. Bordner (Weitzel), 91, formerly of West Lawn, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Berks Heim. She was the beloved wife of the late Carlen R. Bordner, who passed away on July 13, 2021. Together they shared 68 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Weyandt) Weitzel.  Evelyn was a graduate of Wyomissing High School. She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, she helped as a teacher’s aide, Sunday school teacher, as a volunteer at West Lawn library and as a Brownie & Girl Scout assistant leader. Evelyn was known for her smile, she loved flowers, enjoyed reading and word search puzzles.

Above all Evelyn loved to spend time with her family especially at her beloved country home and was the epitome of a lady, wife, and mother.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Darrell L. Bordner, husband of Connie, of Mohrsville; daughter, Ellen L. Phillips, wife of Roger Jr., of South Heidelberg Township; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul Weitzel Jr., Ronald Weitzel, and Barry Weitzel.

Memorial service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, PA 19608 on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11:00am. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The West Lawn Library, West Lawn, PA 19609.
