Evelyn Bateman

Evelyn Anne Bateman, 95, of Reading, passed away March 18, 2009 in her residence. She was the wife of William H. Bateman who passed away March 7, 1994. Born in Worcester, MA on May 11, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Robert Black and the late Mae (Faulkner-Lauder) Black.

Mrs. Bateman was the Assistant Postmaster of Jamison, PA for 25 years until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Warwick Presbyterian Church in Bucks County and was a former Royal Grand Matron of the Amaranth and member of the court in Buckingham, PA.

Surviving are a son William E. Bateman and his partner Randy S. Schaeffer with whom she last resided, a daughter Judith A. (Bateman) wife of Larry Mumbauer of East Greenville, PA, 3 grandchildren Lorina (Mumbauer) wife of Jonathan Setman, Daniel L. Mumbauer and Thomas W. Bateman, 3 great grandchildren Alison Setman, Kassandra Setman and Jonathan H. Setman, and a brother Alfred Black of Florida. She was predeceased by two brothers Robert and Joseph.
