Ethel M. Long, 80, of West Wyomissing, passed away January 11, 2010 at 4:15 PM in her residence. She was the companion and significant other of Eugene J. Manmiller for 27 years. Born in Pottsville on March 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harlen J. and Ethel M. (Boyer) Hoover.


Ethel was employed as an operator by A.T. & T. in Reading for 20 years retiring in 1994.


Surviving in addition to Eugene J. Manmiller who resided with her are a son H. Lee Filbert husband of Judith R. Barr of Leesport, 2 grandsons, a brother Harlen Hoover of Concord, NC, 2 sisters Joan wife of Rodney Snook of West Lawn and Patsy widow of Earl Bechtel of Exeter Twp., a son and daughter at heart Eugene C. and Jane S. Manmiller, 2 granddaughters at heart, 2 step grandsons , 2 step great granddaughters. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Gail Fletcher and Florence Murphy.


She was a member of Elizabeth Herr Lodge # 131 Order of Eastern Star.
