Esther Sanders

Esther Mae(Schonour) Sanders passed away January 29, 2009 at the age of 92 in Berks Heim where she resided for ten years. Esther was born in Sinking Spring on May 9, 1916 to the late William F. and Annie A. Schonour. For forty-five years she was the loving wife of the late Stanley E. Sanders, who passed away in 1980. She worked as a machine operator at both Rosedale and Sweigert Hosiery companies for forty-one years, retiring in 1974. During her youth and early married years, Esther had been a member of Nativity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered her help at church social events. Esther delighted in playing the piano or organ, crocheting and embroidering, watching old movies, making a house a welcoming home, caring for her granddog Gabby, foxtrotting with her beloved Stan, and being a mother and best friend to her daughter. She is survived by that daughter Donna Lee wife of Donald S. Walker of Cumru Township. A gentle women of integrity and compassion, Esther has left behind a legacy of shared laughter, an understanding heart, and a myriad of kindness to all whose lives she touched.
