Ernest S. "Ernie" Donton, 84, of Temple, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 9:12 p.m. at St. Joseph's Medical Center, where he had been a patient for the less than a day.
Born in Hamburg, PA, he was the son of the late Albert Donton and Ginny (Koons) Donton. He was the husband of JoAnn F. (Jones) Donton. The couple shared thirty six wonderful years of marriage.
He served our country with the United States Army during World War II, and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He was a member of St. Stephens Polish National Catholic Church, Cumru Twp. He was a life member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Post 378 in Reading. He was also a member of the Goodwill Beneficial Association, and the Central Fire Company.
He worked as a Tow Loader Operator for Dana Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He later worked as a Courier for ASI Market Service.
He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying Camping, Boating, and Deep Sea Fishing off of the Delaware coast. He also loved bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Timtohy of Spring Hill, FL, Susan of Dade City, FL, Kimberly George of Gastonia, NC, and Chief Petty Officer John George of Temple.
There are also six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He is also survived by sisters: Hilda (Donton) Yerger of California, and Virginia (Donton) Hertzog of Hamburg; and brothers: Herman of Arkansas, and Franz Cremer of Morgantown; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was pre deceased by four brothers: Lee, Gene, Raymond, and Roland.
