Ernest Darcourt

Ernest L. Darcourt, 86, formerly of Shillington, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in his residence. He was the beloved husband of Joan L. (Latchford) Darcourt who passed away on July 12, 2016. They shared 63 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Ernest L. Darcourt Sr. and Anna (Hummel). Mr. Darcourt was a 1951 graduate of Shillington High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Ernest went on to work for Dick Horrigan VW in Reading as a body shop foreman, for 28 years. He was predeceased by his granddaughter: Jill L. Gauby
He is survived by his daughters: Michele E. Darcourt, wife of Jan Gauby of Leesport, and Phyllis D. Smith, wife of Edward of Sinking Spring. grandchildren: Danielle A. Moyer, wife of Kyle S. Moyer of West Lawn, Bryan E. Smith of Sinking Spring, Jessica L. Frank of Muhlenberg Twp., and Jeffery L. Gauby of West Lawn. Ernest is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and brother James E. Darcourt, of Lock Haven.


Funeral Services will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Berks County Veterans Affairs 726 Cherry Street Reading, PA 19602 or the Humane Society of Berks County 1801 N. 11th Street Reading, PA 19604 .
