Emma Rahn

July 23, 1925 — April 18, 2017

Emma L. Rahn, 91, formerly of Fleetwood, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at The Summit Nursing and Rehab Center in Lehighton. She was born on July 23, 1925 to the late Daniel and Emma (Behn) Rahn.
Emma proudly graduated from The Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was employed by The Reading Hospital her entire career in several positions in nursing. She received a Bachelor's Degree in 1967 from Albright College and then completed her graduate degree in 1969 at Columbia University, New York City. Upon completion of her degrees she assumed the position of Vice President of Nursing at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Emma retired in 1987 and was able to enjoy increased time with her family and to travel to many places she wished to see.
She was predeceased by her sisters Elda Boas, Helen Rahn, and Mary Heslop.
She is survived by her nephew William and nieces Jane, Susan, and Lois Ann and their families. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church of Christ of Reading.
Funeral Services will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland St., Reading, on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00AM, Rev. Michael Baal officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10-11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Emma Rahn, may be directed to support a nursing scholarship at the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences, payable to Reading Health System Foundation, 6th Avenue & Spruce St., Reading, PA 19611. Please indicate in memo line in memory of Emma Rahn.
